What to Do if Your BMW Overheats

With Summer officially here, let’s hope that the increase in ambient temperatures isn’t translated into an increase in your engine temperatures. If you see your coolant gauge climb, please try to do these things BEFORE it gets into the red.

  1. Pull over as soon as it is safe and turn the engine off.
  2. Call a towing service.
  3. Call Pacific Motorsports and notify us that your MINI or BMW has overheated and you’re waiting for a tow truck to bring it to us. That way we can get you on the schedule and be prepared to diagnose and repair your car as soon as possible.

In the National Safety Council’s post, “What to Do if Your Car Overheats,” they say, “Your best bet is to get help from a mechanic.”

The reasons for this are obvious, those of us that work on cars for a living see and deal with these issues on a daily basis, so we are the best qualified to effectively diagnose and repair these problems. Our factory-trained Master Technicians have decades of experience with these issues.

With the health and viability of your car’s engine at stake when it overheats, please be cautious and prudent. We don’t like having the, “You need a new engine” conversation, and you won’t like participating in it.

Pacific Motorsports is committed to ensuring effective communication and digital accessibility to all users. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and apply the relevant accessibility standards to achieve these goals. We welcome your feedback. Please call Pacific Motorsports (503) 232-5545 if you have any issues in accessing any area of our website.
