The Pacific Motorsports Advantage

BMW & MINI Repair, Portland OR

We’ve all seen examples of what we consider to be “good” or “superior” work and said to ourselves, “I’d like that person to do that for me when I need it done.” What distinguishes quality work, and how can we find it? These are questions we sometimes forget to ask, either to ourselves and/or to the service provider we’re engaging, whether plumber, tailor, or mechanic.

At Pacific Motorsports we believe that the quality of our work comes down to the following:

  • Specialization
  • Experience
  • Skills
  • Caring

We don’t try to do everything, we focus on one brand family (BMW and MINI) exclusively. Remember the old saying, “Jack of All Trades and Master of None”? We’re not those people. Unlike some places, we don’t work on multiple brands, nor perform bodywork or sell cars. Everyone here is focused on one thing and one thing only, servicing and repairing BMW and MINI automobiles.

The factory-trained Level 1 Master Technicians at Pacific Motorsports have over half a century of history with BMW and MINI automobiles at both franchised dealerships and independent repair facilities. This extensive experience means that they have probably seen every model car and variant made by these companies over the past fifty years. They know the quirks and unique points of each and how to deal with them.

In a rapidly changing technological environment, it is important to keep abreast of developments and changes and be able to acquire new knowledge and skills to address these changes. That’s why the excellent highly trained technicians at Pacific Motorsports obtain ongoing training in new models and systems.

The BMW shop listing platform, BIMMERshops.com, has another take on what makes a BMW and MINI shop exceptional. Their site, “makes it easy for you to locate a qualified independent BMW mechanic by keeping the most up-to-date list of specialists anywhere.” Of course, Pacific Motorsports is on their listing.

We check every box they mention in such a search, as outlined above, like experience, training, equipment, etc. Our expertise and experience extend beyond that, however.

Where BIMMERshops discusses, “How to Find a Qualified BMW Repair Shop” they suggest checking a shop’s professional association membership. This is never a bad idea, as all of us are known by the company we keep. “There are also BMW-specific professional organizations such as BIMRS that accept only the most specialized BMW experts.” Pacific Motorsports has been a member of BIMRS, and its predecessor organization, since 2003, and is the only member in the greater Portland metropolitan area.

It’s not enough to say you do something or even get trained in it, to be the best. Recognition by fellow professionals, those widely recognized as “the best of the best,” is something else entirely, and something that can only be earned over time.

Quality work requires more than just a knowledgeable experienced craftsperson, if that’s all that was needed the world would abound in superior quality. What elevates the superior is more than skilled experienced attention to detail, it's caring. People that care bring something else to their work, and it is a quality that can’t be trained or learned. People who care want, at all times, to do the best job possible. Leading with that intention, and applying it throughout the process, is what elevates these people, and their work, above the rest.

At Pacific Motorsports you will see the results of the sum of these elements, specialization, experience, skills, and caring. It is why we provide A Higher Standard of Service
